Useful information:

Located in the department of Tolima, La Carbonera and its surroundings were long a forgotten territory. Between 1995 and 2000, it was the scene of armed conflict. Today, it is home to the country’s best-preserved wax palm ecosystem, with native forests that have remained intact for more than 60 years. It also offers valuable interaction with rural culture.

Itinerary:

The tour starts from the hotel in a 4×4 vehicle that will take you through the mountains for approximately 2 hours, allowing you to observe different ecosystems until you reach the palm forest. There, you will begin a 2-hour hike through the mountains until you reach a farm where a local family will welcome you with a typical regional lunch. After enjoying this meal and resting for one hour, you will visit a waterfall and finally return to Salento by vehicle, a journey of approximately two hours.
